Spaceship!!!

Posted by erinlausten on September 10, 2015

Yes, Benny is my favorite. If I must choose just one insane, walking plastic man of joy, I will pick a rabid astronaut every time. Why do I bring this up? Because I was stranded in my house with a sick 7 year old and a husband recovering from open heart surgery. (I will let you guess which one gave me more puppy dog eyes and requests for snacks or juice.)

I took solace in the Lego Movie. Thank you Lego for providing a no-brainer gift for whatever instance requires it; where my son is concerned. Thank you Lego for grabbing pop culture by the throat and demanding we hand over our money. Please, take it. Take my money. I had a quiet two hours (or however long that movie is) and a perfect representation of my mood in Benny.

Can I build it now? Now? Now?

I have this same voice in my head at all times. New ideas are throwing shoes, banging drums, and doing cartwheels in my brain. Imagine about twenty Benny’s jumping in your head. Sure, it might indicate a chemical imbalance, but I’m not going to tell my therapist about this, are you?

Anyway… So the point of this heretofore pointless post: Deadbeat is out. And the great thing about Deadbeat is that I got rid of a good forty Bennys in that one. I had so much fun writing the story and not just because well, hello… Vampires? But because these ridiculous scenes kept popping in my head and I actually had a place to put them.

As you jump in and run through this one, send me a note, throw in a comment, or just send a telegram (no more of those? Hmm), Smoke signal (oh, culturally insensitive, but I’m part… yeh, nevermind), carrier pigeon? (No? What do you mean they’re all dead??).

Ok, I don’t care how you tell me, but I do want to know what your favorite scene is. I’m dying to know… mwhoohahaha, get it? Dying. A book about vampires? No? Sigh, ok. I’ll stop.

Cheers!

Erin

coverRelease

Today is the day! Feel free to open the link for the press release. Deadbeat is live today at a special release price of $4.99. Available at Smashwords, Amazon and other e-book retailers.

I want to thank you all for sticking by me as I dealt with all that Life has thrown my way. While we are still in the thick of change, the ideas are still churning. I hope that you enjoy reading this fun, comedic take on the  paranormal at least half as much as I enjoyed writing it.  l am really looking forward to revisiting Megan, Clarence and the gang soon.

Cheers!

2015… Wow!

Posted by erinlausten on February 2, 2015

Here we are in the second month of 2015 and I am amazed at how quickly it is going already.

When reminiscing on New Year’s Eve with my extended family I realized this year marks FIVE years since I published my first novel Unexpected! I can’t believe it. I feel like I’ve only just started this journey but looking back at the books since Unexpected I know it’s been a heck of a ride. And it is FAR from over.

To celebrate I am offering Unforeseen (Book 2 – Viator Legacy) for $0.99 from February 2nd until March 17th on Smashwords and Amazon! I love Grace and would like more folks to meet her. Lucius isn’t too bad either.

Let’s get ready for more adventures with Deadbeat coming out very soon and Unrepentant (Book 3 – Viator Legacy) coming out later this year. This wild ride just keeps on going.

Happy 2015 Everyone!

Announcement and Sale!

Posted by erinlausten on December 17, 2014

Season’s Greetings to all my Readers and Friends!

After a honestly brutal heart to heart with my editor and betas I decided that I could not release Deadbeat just yet. You all deserve my best and that is exactly what I am going to give you.

I want to thank you for your continued support and patience. This story got away from me. This universe has so many unique personalities and they all want my attention. To be honest, they distracted me with how fun each one is.

In the meantime, to make up for the delay AND give everyone an opportunity to submit an honest review of my first book, I am lowering the price. From TODAY, December 17th, until January 31st you can purchase the digital version of Unexpected : A Viator Legacy Novel for only $0.99. This price is available on Smashwords, (for Kobo, Nook, iBook, PDF, etc.) and Amazon (for Kindle.)

This weekend I am baking cookies, decorating and spending time with my family. I hope you all are enjoying this Holiday Season with the people you love.

Happy Chanukkah, Blessed Yule, Happy Kwanzaa, and Merry Christmas!!XmasGingerbread

The Excitement… It’s Overwhelming

Posted by erinlausten on November 13, 2013

I’m just a tad excited. Ok, a lot excited. I’ve told you about Unforeseen coming out next week. I have comments back from Betas on Cibola’s Revenge and shooting to have that out by Christmas. But now, I have a new announcement, I am launching a new Pen Name, to  write my happy, fun, lovely romances. Oh, they are fairly steamy too. They just don’t fit in the same vein as my Erin Lausten books. So if you like sweet, steamy fantasy fodder, check out Amie Archer at http://amiearcher.wordpress.com/

Now what has me super excited is not only am I telling the world Amie exists, but I am also releasing her (my) first book. It’s a novella, it’s hot and just in time for Christmas. Before you ask, it is titled Cabin Fever. Oh yeh, did I say hot? Yum. In addition to this first book, I will have two more out before Christmas. So if a heat-filled romance is something you like, check out Amie Archer’s blog and like her on Facebook!

Wait… did I say I have three books for Amie, and two for Erin coming out before Christmas? Yes, yes I did say that. No I am not a mutant (though you could say some of my characters are… Viators maybe? Hmmm), but I do have that many books to release. I just happen to have a backlog which is finally getting cleaned out.

How am I handling all this insanity? Well, I can say I’m just a little nutty. Not the normal nutty, but a more frazzled, excitable, happy nutty. I couldn’t do this without a huge support staff. Well, not huge, but the help and support these key players provide is HUGE. Consider  yourself warned that you will see a flurry of madness over the next couple of months and then we’ll be back on track. After the madness I’ll be working on a new project. A super-secret project ….ok, I can’t keep secrets. It’s about vampires…and werewolves… and fairies… and centaurs…and Chihuahuas… um, yeh, I said Chihuahuas. It’s going be a blast. It will be MY fun take on the supernatural genre. So, keep watching—things are about to get Verrrry interesting.

It’s Almost Here!

Posted by erinlausten on November 4, 2013

I promised, and promised, and promised… Finally, it’s happening! Book Two of the Viator series is on its way. Unforeseen follows the story of Grace and Lucius as they discover the depth of the conspiracy facing their peoples and confront threats that just might hit a little closer to home than anyone expected. The E-book will be available November 20th at top online bookstores and watch for the Print book to be released by the first week in December. I’ll have links available on this blog and my website at http://erinlausten.com as soon as the books are available.

To tide you over until then, here’s a look at the cover and a sneak peak at the book:

“You say that a lot. I am not certain what you mean,” Grace said.

“I say what?” Hailey said.

“Dude.”

At that Hailey burst into a loud laugh. Several passengers across the aisle looked over. “Dude is by far the best word in the English language.”

“I know that it has had numerous permutations through history. But you use it in ways I have never read.”

“Well. It used to mean a city slicker. It was a derogatory term for men from back east that didn’t fit into the west. But it was picked up by the California surfers and then teenagers. When I grew up, dude was required to be said in every sentence. That and certain swear words that I have tried to use a little less. I just can’t seem to get rid of dude.”

Fascinated, Grace gave a tentative smile. “But what does it mean?”

“Well. It can mean just about anything. Mostly a feeling. For instance, let’s say you said something I wasn’t expecting. I would say ‘Dude’,” the word came out short and changed in pitch toward the end. “But if you said something I didn’t agree with I would say ‘Dude’.” This time the word was said low and long.

Grace giggled. Then tried it herself, “Duuude.”

Hailey threw back her head and let loose another of her hearty laughs. Lucius peeked over her head. “Tell me you are not teaching her to speak your language.”

Both girls fell into a fit of giggles. Grace hadn’t had this much fun in…well, ever.
